Pond-Free 101

Chapter 2

Advantages of Pond-Free Features over Ponds

First of all, Pond-free features are just that – Pond-free. No pond means a lot less maintenance and a lot less liability – no feeding or caring for fish, no algae or pond muck, no falling in and getting hurt or worse – which makes them ideal for businesses, parks, schools, even front yards. Pond-free also means less cost to install and maintain. Ponds typically require a good deal more capital investment – there’s more to excavate; there are filters to install and keep clean; fish to buy, feed, medicate and replace; algae blooms to deal with; winter and summer aeration to pay for. Pond-free features can be made smaller but retain the same impact. By eliminating the pond, viewers can approach that much closer, so a smaller pump can make a bigger splash, so to speak. There is one more good reason that Pond-free has become very popular. When you think of ponds, the fish and plants that live in them spring to mind, and for good reason -- ponds are alive. To keep backyard ponds in good shape requires running, and paying for, a pump operating 24/7, for most or all of the year, depending on climate. Pond-free features can be turned off and on at will, so operating costs can be managed as needed.
